Along with his upcoming record, The Next Day, David Bowie's comeback this year will be complemented by a feature-length documentary about his life and career. Titled David Bowie--Five Years, the film will broadcast on BBC Two in May, after the record is released in March.
As NME notes, the film will feature archival footage and interviews with Bowie's collaborators and peers, covering his recent resurgence as well as five crucial years in his life: 1971, 1975, 1977, 1980, and 1983. Director Francis Whately told NME that the film has been in the works for 10 years.
NME also notes that The Hollywood Reporter reports that an in-progress biopic, Lust for Life, will highlight Bowie's years spent collaborating with Iggy Pop in Berlin in the 1970s.
