Interpol's Paul Banks has a new solo record, Banks, out next week via Matador. It's his follow-up to the recent Julian Plenti Lives... EP. Banks, which includes the previously shared "The Base", is now available to stream in full, below, on YouTube via Drowned in Sound.
In an interview with DiS, Banks described what's brought about his solo work:
When I was on the road with Interpol for the last two years I took my laptop and any downtime I had was spent working on music. I've always written music. It's just that nobody ever got to hear any of it until I finally came to put out that first record… It was like a nirvana, that was the gates opening, and now I'll always make records.
In related news, Interpol recently announced a deluxe reissue of their 2002 debut, Turn on the Bright Lights.
