Throbbing Gristle Share Details of Final Release, Nico Cover Album Featuring Antony, Sasha Grey, More

New details of the long-awaited final release from industrial sound experimentalists Throbbing Gristle have surfaced, as the Quietus points out. The double album contains their full-album reinterpretation of Nico's 1970 album Desertshore and another disc called The Final Report, and will be out on November 26 on Throbbing Gristle's relaunched label Industrial Records. Tracklists for both can be found here.

The Desertshore cover album has been in the works for years, but was halted when band member Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson-- who conceived of the project to begin with-- passed away in 2010. November 26 is the day after the second anniversary of his death. Vocalists on the album include Antony of Antony and the Johnsons, Marc Almond of Soft Cell, Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, actress Sasha Grey, and director Gaspar Noé.

The Final Report consists of the final sessions recorded by Chris, Cosey, and Sleazy in 2009 and 2010. (Group leader Genesis P-Orridge quit Throbbing Gristle in 2010.)
