Tim Hecker and Daniel Lopatin (a.k.a. Oneohtrix Point Never) have teamed up for a collaborative record on Mexican Summer's Software imprint (which is run by Lopatin and his Ford & Lopatin partner Joel Ford). The album is called Instrumental Tourist and it's due out November 20. Check out "Uptown Psychedelia" above, the first taste from the album.

The release will be the first in Software's SSTUDIOS series, which "invites artists in the field of electronic music to create collaborative works of quality and vision," according to a press release.

Also according to a press release, Hecker and Lopatin "designed a sound palette from the acoustic resonance of digitally-sourced 'Instruments of the World.'" The two met in the studio looking to record in the style of jazz-based improvisation, meaning there was little preparation in advance.

Hecker and Lopatin will perform together at the Unsound Festival in Krakow, Poland, taking place October 14-21.
