Jason Noble, the Louisville musician of the bands Rodan, Rachel's, and Shipping News, died this morning after his long battle with cancer. His Caring Bridge blog notes that he was surrounded by family and friends.
Noble joined the post-hardcore band Rodan in the early 1990s. They released a handful of singles and one influential full-length, 1994's Rusty, via Quarterstick. He later recorded minimalist albums with Per Mission, Rachel's, and Shipping News.
He was reported to be battling cancer in 2009, and in 2010, Shipping News released a new album, One Less Heartless to Fear.
